Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) is a hilly [climbing area](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climbing_area) and [national park](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_parks_of_Germany) in the [Elbe Sandstone Mountains](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbe_Sandstone_Mountains), located around the [Elbe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbe) valley south-east of [Dresden](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dresden) in [Saxony](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saxony).
We will visit Königstein fortress – one of the largest hilltop fortifications in Europe, go hiking in Saxon Switzerland area, explore Meissen town (home of Meissen porcelain, the Albrechtsburg castle, the Gothic Meissen Cathedral and so on), and have a walk in the Dresden City Center.

**Here is the rough itinerary for the tour**

**27th Mai**
6.50 we meet at Hauptbahnhof
7.01 we take the train to Dresden (with 2 changes)
10.43 we arrive at Dresden Hauptbahnhof and leave our baggage in in our hotel
11.30 lunch at a restaurant
12.30 we take S-Bahn to the Meissen town
13.04 arriving to Meissen and begin our walk in the town
16.00/17.00 we take train back to Dresden
16.30/17.30 walk through the Dresden city center and dinner
19.00/20.00 check in in hotel

**28th Mai**
7.00-8.00 – breakfast in the hotel
9.00 – we take S-bahn to Königstein fortress
10.00-12.00 exploring Königstein
13.00 – 16.00 – hike to the highest mountain in the area – Lilienstein
16.00 – S-bahn back to Dresden
17.08/17.51 – back to Berlin
20.52/21.12 – we arrive Berlin Hauptbahnhof

Costs
**Train and S-bahn tickets** – you can use Deutschland ticket
**Hotel** – 40-65 euro (6 bed room in a&o hostel Dresden Hauptbahnhof)
